REDW Advisors and CPAs, one of the Southwest’s 10 largest advisory and CPA firms, also recognized among INSIDE Public Accounting’s Top 200 Accounting Firms, is pleased to announce Steven Purwin, CPA, a Senior Manager in REDW’s Audit and Assurance practice, as among its 2023 Connect New Mexico Graduates. He now joins the incredible network of over 2,200 Leadership New Mexico alumni.

Leadership New Mexico is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization governed by a Board of Directors from throughout the state of New Mexico. Since its founding in 1995, Leadership New Mexico has provided a non-partisan perspective on statewide topics of concern and opportunities for improvement. The organization identifies current and emerging leaders throughout New Mexico, enhances their leadership skills, and deepens their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing the state.

“During the 10-month-long Core Program, participants visit the state’s different regions and tour their major employers and economic hubs. Members experience the unique culture of each area and learn about its opportunities and challenges,” said Purwin. “We also hear from New Mexico’s subject matter experts focused on education, agriculture, economic development, crime, and much more. The process offers an opportunity for inquiry, analysis, and the development of solutions moving forward.”

Since joining REDW in 2015, Purwin has served on both internal and external audit engagements for government agencies and commercial enterprises. A CPA, he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management. In addition to his work at REDW and acceptance and graduation from the program, Purwin is active in several community causes, notably as vice president of the Domestic Violence Resource Center, a member of the New Mexico Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of NAIOP, which elevates the commercial real estate development industry by providing advocacy, education, research, and connections to foster business opportunities. He is also a former ambassador with the Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance.
