Arizona State Board of Accountancy Honors REDW’s Tony Gerlach & Wes Benally

Phoenix, AZ — September 9, 2021 — REDW LLC, one of the Southwest’s 10 largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, is pleased to share recent recognition by the Arizona State Board of Accountancy of REDW Principal Tony Gerlach and Senior Manager Wes Benally, who have both served with State Board committees for five years and are now volunteering to continue on for another term.

In a recent announcement, the Arizona State Board of Accountancy honored and thanked featured board and committee members for serving an additional five-years, “The Board and its staff are grateful for their time, talent and outstanding contributions to help effectively carry-out the Board’s mission to protect the public from unlawful, incompetent, unqualified or unprofessional certified public accountants through certification, regulation and rehabilitation. It would be impossible for the Board and its staff to carry out its mission without the immeasurably valuable work of these volunteers…â€

Anthony Gerlach

Anthony R. Gerlach, CPA

Tony Gerlach is a Principal in REDW’s Phoenix office with more than 21 years of public accounting service and is a member of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy’s Certification Advisory Committee. Among his respected clients, he is known for fostering sound financial management, helping numerous Tribal entities to strengthen their internal controls, and regularly provides guidance in the implementation of ever-evolving GASB standards. Tony said,

“It is both an honor and a pleasure to serve with the Arizona State Board of Accountancy. I appreciate being a part of making the CPA profession stronger and more distinguished in the state of Arizona, and as a member of the Certification Advisory Committee I am in good company to do so.â€

Tony is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a regular speaker on governmental accounting and Single Audits at REDW’s Annual Tribal Finance & Leadership Conference.

Wesley Benally

Wesley R. Benally, CPA

Wes Benally is a Senior Manager and National Tribal Practice Co-Leader in REDW’s Phoenix office and has more than 14 years of experience in public accounting, performing audits of various Native American communities and public government agencies throughout the Southwest.

“Five years volunteering with the Arizona State Board of Accountancy has flown by,†said Wes. “At REDW, we believe that integrity counts, so volunteering with the Peer Review Oversight Advisory Committee is a pretty seamless fit. I am looking forward to another five year term and strengthening the industry in Arizona for our esteemed clientele.â€

In addition to serving on the Arizona State Board of Accountancy’s Peer Review Oversight Advisory Committee, Wes is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and serves as an instructor for the Tribal Financial Managers Certificate Program through Arizona State University’s American Indian Policy Institute, which is sponsored by NAFOA. Wes recently co-hosted a podcast discussing business valuation during the pandemic.
