Meet Stephen

Throughout his career in public accounting, Stephen has worked almost exclusively with tribal governments, casinos, and other Native American enterprises. As an Audit & Assurance Principal he specializes in providing financial, minimum internal control and federal programs compliance, operational performance audits and evaluation services.

Stephen frequently lends his expertise as a speaker at conferences and training events, including the Indian Gaming Association (IGA) Tradeshow and Convention, and regularly conducts training classes for tribal gaming commission personnel on improving internal controls and complying with National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS). He also provides in-house Continuing Professional Education sessions for REDW audit staff.

Professional Qualifications and Memberships

A CPA licensed to practice in New Mexico, Stephen is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants (NMSCPA). He is a member of the NMSCPA’s Student Pipeline Committee, which works to encourage and educate students about the CPA profession, and also served as a volunteer instructor for the REDW Financial Literacy Program offered at the Santa Fe Indian School.

Stephen is a frequent speaker at conferences such as the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) Tradeshow and Convention and REDW's own annual Tribal Finance & Leadership Conference.

Community Involvement

Stephen currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Heading Home, a New Mexico non-profit that provides shelter and housing services to people experiencing homelessness. He also regularly volunteers as an instructor with Junior Achievement teaching Financial Literacy.
