REDW Promotes Three to Principal

Albuquerque, NM – January 10, 2020 – REDW LLC, one of the Southwest’s largest and fastest growing certified public accounting and business advisory firms, is pleased to announce the promotion of three team members to Principal: Stephen Montoya and James Ortiz in REDW’s Albuquerque office, and Brian Foltyn in the firm’s Phoenix office.

Brian FoltynBrian Foltyn, CVA, leads valuation and advisory services in REDW’s Phoenix office. He has more than two decades of professional experience in both industry and public accounting, which includes business valuation advisory services, strategic planning, dispute advisory, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining REDW LLC in 2017, Brian was with Plante & Moran PLLC in their Forensic & Valuation Services group. He is designated as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, and is a member of the American Society of Appraisers and an Accredited Senior Appraiser Candidate. Brian holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and an M.A. in Accountancy from Walsh College in Detroit. Brian said: “REDW has a top-notch team and a great story to tell. I’m very excited and honored to join the leadership group. As a Principal, I will take pride in being a leader within REDW, directly contributing to the firm’s growth and success through my education, hard work, strategic vision and dedication to our clients’ welfare.â€

James OrtizJames Ortiz heads the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, and has helped clients with economic credits and incentives, multistate sales and use tax, and multistate income tax, among others. With nearly 15 years of SALT experience in government, Fortune 500 companies and public accounting, he brings diverse knowledge and unique perspectives to every tax matter. James is on NAIOP New Mexico’s State/National Government Policy Committee, and is an Enterprise Advisor for the Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University and a board member of Catholic Charities of New Mexico. He also serves as Chair of the New Mexico Society of CPAs’ Tax Committee. In 2017, Albuquerque Business First recognized him for its prestigious “40 Under Forty†award that recognizes outstanding young professionals. James has a BBA from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Phoenix.

Stephen MontoyaStephen Montoya, CPA, has served in public accounting for more than 15 years and has dedicated his career to performing audit and advisory services for governmental entities, including tribes and their tribally owned businesses, such as their gaming operations. He has also worked with several prominent state and local governmental entities in New Mexico, including the New Mexico Department of Transportation, New Mexico Finance Authority, Santa Fe County, and the City of Albuquerque. Stephen frequently lends his expertise as a speaker at conferences and training events, such as volunteering his time as an instructor at the REDW Financial Literacy Program for Native American high school students. He holds a B.A. from the University of New Mexico. In response to his promotion, Montoya said: “I’m excited to take this next step with REDW, as it provides me with a unique opportunity to make meaningful contributions in the lives of our team members, our clients and our communities.â€
