REDW Promotes 18 Professionals Firm-Wide

REDW LLC, one of the Southwest’s 10 largest certified public accounting and business consulting firms, has promoted 18 professionals across multiple departments in its Albuquerque, NM and Phoenix, AZ offices, including within its sister company, Alliance Benefit Group Southwest. REDW is well known in the industry for regularly recognizing and rewarding the professional achievements of its team members, firm-wide.

Audit & Consulting

Julia Martinez, CPA, CCIFP® to Audit & Consulting Manager in Albuquerque. Julia has over 15 years of experience in both public and private accounting, and across a variety of industries, including construction, real estate, manufacturing, non-profits and healthcare. She also serves as an outsourced accountant, performing such client services as financial statement compilation, budgeting, cash management, general ledger, and audit preparation. Julia is both a licensed CPA and Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP).

Victoria Gorman to Senior Audit Associate II in Albuquerque. Since joining REDW in January 2013, Victoria has specialized in providing financial, internal control compliance, and operational performance audit and evaluation services to a variety of the firm’s state and local government clients, as well as nonprofit healthcare clients.

Evangelos Kitsos to Senior Audit Associate I in Albuquerque. Evan joined REDW in March 2016, bringing five years of experience performing audits, compilations, reviews and agreed-upon procedures for large governmental, commercial and nonprofit clients, as well as employee retirement plans. He has also worked on numerous engagements involving audits of debt agreements between entities and financial institutions.

Chelsea Ritchie to Senior Audit Associate I in Albuquerque. Since joining REDW in 2015, Chelsea has specialized in providing financial, compliance and internal audits to healthcare, governmental, nonprofit and tribal clients, as well as employee benefit plans, and has worked as a tax accountant for individuals and corporations.

Jacob Schnitker to Senior Audit Associate I in Phoenix. Jacob joined REDW in January 2014, bringing nearly three years of accounting-related experience, and has since effectively applied that knowledge to audits of state and local governments, tribal governments and their enterprises, nonprofit organizations and medical centers.

Karina Mikkelson to Accounting Specialist Supervisor in Albuquerque. Karina has over three years of public accounting experience, serving primarily on financial audit and single audit engagements for public and tribal government clients, as well as agreed-upon procedures and compliance testwork.

Angelica Acosta to Audit Associate II in Albuquerque. Since joining REDW in February 2015, Angelica has primarily served on internal and external audit engagements for governmental entities, including governmental healthcare organizations.

Carlos Aguilera to Audit Associate II in Phoenix. Since joining REDW’s Audit & Consulting team in 2015, Carlos has specialized in performing financial and single audits for tribal clients and has also provided consulting services to agricultural and healthcare corporations.

Marcus Benally to Audit Associate II in Phoenix. Since joining REDW in October 2015, Marcus has served primarily on financial audit and single audit engagements for tribal government and gaming clients, and has also administered P.L. 93-638 (self-determination) contracts. He is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.

Crystal Gutierrez to Audit Associate II in Albuquerque. Since joining REDW in early 2016, Crystal has served primarily on financial audit and single audit engagements for governmental and tribal clients, and prior to that worked for over four years in the banking and financial services industry.

Steven Jaramillo
 to Audit Associate II in Albuquerque. Since joining REDW in 2015, Steven has served primarily on financial audit and single audit engagements for public and tribal government clients, as well as tribal casino engagements. He also has three years of prior experience as a general manager for a national franchise, and worked as a cashier at a local tribal casino.

Xiangzi (Pauline) Tang to Audit Associate II in Phoenix. Pauline joined REDW in late 2015, bringing a year of public accounting experience serving on tribal engagements, and has continued to serve a variety of tribal entities, including tribal gaming clients. Pauline is bi-lingual in Mandarin Chinese and English.

Tax

Steven B. Schwartz, CPA to Senior Tax Manager in Phoenix. Steven boasts more than 30 years of experience in income tax planning and compliance, primarily in real estate construction and for closely held businesses, and has also successfully handled numerous IRS examinations. A strong proponent of mentoring junior staff, Steven has fostered tax study groups to share his knowledge.

Jarred McMahan, CPA to Senior Tax Accountant in Albuquerque. Experienced in tax preparation for nonprofit, corporate, partnership and individual clients, Jarred is responsible for compiling all relevant data for various types of returns, communicating with clients, and ensuring appropriate deadlines are met. He is licensed to practice as a CPA in New Mexico.

Tammy Connin to Tax Accountant in Phoenix. Tammy joined REDW in 2015, bringing over 21 years of experience in the construction industry as an estimator, contract manager and controller. This experience has proven valuable in her work with the firm’s construction clients in the gaming/hospitality arena, and was instrumental in helping to complete a major P.L. 93-638 tribal healthcare conversion project.

Human Resources Consulting

Alicia Finley, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, THRP, FCS to Human Resources Consulting Manager in Albuquerque. Alicia has 17 years of Human Resources consulting experience, primarily in the healthcare and employee benefits fields, as well as eight years in project management. Alicia has particular expertise in consulting with clients on a wide range of technical topics associated with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Alicia holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from the Society of Human Resource Management, and is also certified as a Tribal Human Resources Professional (THRP) and Flexible Compensation Specialist (FCS).

Andie Carver, MBA, THRP to Human Resources Consulting Associate in Albuquerque. With a background in recruiting, performance management, payroll and employee benefits, Andie supports the firm’s HR Consulting projects by developing reports, policies and procedures, position descriptions, and organizational charts. She holds an MBA with a concentration in Policy and Planning from UNM’s Anderson School of Management and is also certified as a Tribal Human Resources Professional (THRP).

Elena Chavez, RPA, GBA to Associate in Albuquerque. Elena has over five years’ experience in the benefits field, including over three years as a legal assistant for a top employee benefits law firm prior to joining the REDW Benefits team (now ABG Southwest) in February 2014. Elena holds the Group Benefits Associate (BGA) and Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) designations as part of the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist program offered by the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
