December 2, 2022 – REDW LLC, recognized among INSIDE Public Accounting’s Top 200 Accounting Firms, is proud to celebrate James (Jimmy) D. Trujillo, CPA, as the recipient of the 2022 New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants (NMSCPA) Lifetime Achievement Award. Trujillo, a Principal in the firm, was given the award in acknowledgement of his substantial contributions to the community, firm, and profession over the past several decades. In addition to Trujillo, Caitlin Gutierrez, CPA, CIDA, was awarded the NMSCPA Woman to Watch Award in the category of “Emerging Leader” Gutierrez, an Internal Audit Senior Manager, was given the award in acknowledgement of her contributions in similar categories as she advances in her career. Carl Alongi, a Senior Consultant in REDW’s Business Valuation, Forensic and Litigation Services, was honored for marking a milestone 50 years as a member of the NMSCPA’s. Dean Willingham, Principal, celebrated 25 years as a member of the NMSCPA as well.

Trujillo, Gutierrez, Alongi, and Willingham were honored by colleagues across New Mexico during the NMSCPA Pride in the Profession Luncheon, which took place on Nov. 4 at Sandia Resort and Casino.

Trujillo, a valued member of firm leadership for several decades, has held several leadership positions within the NMSCPA, including as administrative vice president, financial reporting committee chair and professional ethics committee vice-chair. Within the community, Trujillo “a Leadership New Mexico Class of 2003-2004 graduate” is the past chair and current treasurer of Leadership New Mexico as well as board member and finance committee chair of the University of New Mexico Alumni Association. Prior, he served as a board member and past chair of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, as a board member and past chair of the Robert O. Anderson School and Graduate School of Management Foundation, and as a board member and past finance committee member with the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association New Mexico Chapter. The New Mexico native earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico and is a past winner of New Mexico Financial Services Champion of the Year.

Cait Gutierrez receives honors at the NMSCPA luncheon

Gutierrez has more than 13 years of diverse experience in public accounting, having worked with REDW’s Tax and Wealth Management teams prior to joining the Internal Audit group in 2017. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Gutierrez is also a Certified Investments and Derivatives Auditor (CIDA) and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Gutierrez is a member of the NMSCPA Young CPA Committee and the organization’s Women’s Leadership Summit Committee and is also a member of the Albuquerque Chapter of the Institute of Internal Audit Committee. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Accounting degrees from the University of New Mexico.

Since joining REDW in 2009, Alongi has served as a Senior Consultant with the Valuation and Related Financial Services team. Previously, he spent several decades as a Co-Founder and Managing Shareholder of another Albuquerque-based CPA firm. Since 1982, he has served the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in various capacities beginning with the Small Business Consulting Services Committee. That role ultimately led to his becoming a member of the Management Consulting Services Executive Committee. Alongi’s professional involvement expanded beyond business planning and consulting with his appointment as the first Chair of the Business Valuation Committee where he guided the development of the Accredited in Business Valuation Credential of the AICPA. In 2015, he was the recipient of the AICPA Sustained Contribution Award, which recognizes members who have shown long-lasting dedication and commitment to the accounting profession and AICPA through their volunteer service.
