REDW recently celebrated Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the passage of the 19th Amendment and honoring the ongoing journey toward gender equality in all aspects of life.
At REDW, our core value of ‘Better Together’ reflects our belief that the best way to navigate complexity and arrive at more effective solutions is through collaboration. This principle is especially evident in how the women at our firm support, mentor, and champion one another.
We asked our team members to share stories about the women who have shaped their lives and careers. Their powerful reflections remind us that equality is about the daily choice to lift each other up, to advocate, and to pave the way for the next generation – embodying what it truly means to be better together.
Jill Young, Client Advisory & Accounting Services Manager:
“When I transitioned into my new role, I wasn’t entirely sure if I was ready for the challenge. But one woman believed I was—and that belief changed everything. My mentor saw something in me that I hadn’t even recognized in myself. She gave me a chance, encouraged me, and held space for me to grow. And thanks to her and many other incredible women in my workplace, I’ve been able to not only thrive professionally but also find support and strength in all areas of my life.
“As a working mom who juggles a fast-paced career, parenting, ranch life, sports & school schedules, and everything in between, every day is a balancing act. Some days are chaotic but knowing I’m part of a team where women support each other—where we encourage, uplift, and see one another—makes it manageable, and even joyful.
“I’ve learned so much from the women around me. The greatest lessons haven’t always come from meetings or milestones, but in the quiet moments—in the quick check-ins, in the listening ear, and in the reminder that I’m not doing this alone. Women mentoring women isn’t just about career development; it’s about showing up for each other in all aspects of life. That kind of mentorship can shape futures, build confidence, and create ripple effects for generations.
“One of the most important things I’ve learned as I’ve grown in my role and in life is this: It’s not always what you do, but how you make others feel. Words matter. Support matters. And relationships matter. If I can pass down just one thing to new team members, especially working moms, it would be this—find your crew. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, speak up, and connect. Chances are, someone else is feeling the same way. Encouragement is contagious, and we’re all just trying to do our best.
“My advice to others about supporting women’s equality? Show up—for each other and for yourself. Advocate when someone isn’t in the room. Celebrate not just the wins, but the effort. Mentor someone. Share your story. And remember that every time you uplift another woman, you’re not just supporting her—you’re building a stronger workplace, a stronger community, and a better future.
“And above all, I want my kids to see that their mom is showing up every day—not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth it. I want them to believe they can do anything—because they watched me do it, supported by an incredible crew of women who cheered each other on every step of the way.
“Let’s keep lifting each other up. That’s how we all win!”
Lorin Saavedra, Principal, Client Advisory & Accounting Services:
“Reflecting on my journey, I realize how fortunate I’ve been to have had multiple women role models to look up to growing up. A few years ago, I took a photo with three of these incredible women. At the time, I didn’t fully grasp just how much this image encapsulates.
“These women have been mentors to me—not just through their words, but through their actions. Each has demonstrated what faith and leadership truly look like in practice. As I look at my own leadership style today, I can see pieces of each of them reflected in how I lead.
“This particular photo holds even more meaning, as it was taken in a place rich with tradition, on a day when we all showed up to work together. It serves as a reminder that when we bring our authentic selves and support one another, we carry forward the legacy of those who paved the way before us.
“To all the remarkable women who lead by example and lift others as they rise—thank you. I am grateful for the lessons you continue to teach me.”
Caitlin Gutierrez, CPA, CIDA, Internal Audit Senior Manager:
“I used to joke when people asked me how long I have been at REDW and say “well, I’ve practically grown up here.” I started at the firm when I was 19 years old and going into my junior year in college. Having recently celebrated my 17th anniversary with REDW, I think it is safe to say, I actually have grown up here. I have experienced all of my adult life major milestones while being an REDW employee. Graduations, marriage, birth of a child. All of it.
“When I reflect back on my time here, I can’t help but feel immense gratitude to the many women who served as mentors, friends and allies as I navigated each phase of my growth. These women stood beside me through some of my happiest moments, celebrating me and encouraging me to push forward with my goals. They were there through the challenging times when things felt impossible and I had lost my way.
“Through it all, they remained an anchor for me, people I could trust to help me navigate difficult moments and find my center. Women like Jessica Bundy, who has been one of the most incredible mentors I could have ever hoped for and an incredible example of powerful female leadership. Leslie Jiron, who has not only been a great friend who stood by me on my wedding day, but who also demonstrates daily the importance of having fun and being a great role model. Samantha Huff-Schlueter, a gal who has mastered how to being a dynamic female leader while also making an extraordinary impact in the gaming community through her volunteer efforts, all while being one of my loudest cheerleaders.
“I could keep going on about how each of the women in this firm has contributed in some way to my journey here. That’s the magical part about this place. Our culture for women here demands support for each other. We believe in helping each other up, growing together, and most importantly, we fix each other’s crowns because we know, the stronger we all are together, the better. The more we can create opportunities for the next woman in line, the more everyone wins.
“I am so thankful for the women of REDW who came before me and fostered the path I walk now with abundant opportunities. And I promise to continue fostering that path for all the women navigating their journeys here by being a mentor, a friend, and an ally because we really are better together.”
Moving Forward, Better Together
At REDW, fostering an environment where women can grow, lead, and lift others isn’t just something we celebrate one day a year – it’s woven into who we are and how we work.
The stories from Jill, Lorin, and Caitlin illuminate a powerful truth: when women mentor, advocate, and show up for one another, the impact extends far beyond individual careers. It creates ripple effects that strengthen entire communities and pave pathways for future generations.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to continuing this work: creating space for authentic mentorship, and celebrating not just wins but effort. After all, equality isn’t just about policy or legislation—it’s about the daily choice to believe in each other, to show up, and to build a future where every woman knows she doesn’t have to navigate her journey alone.
