IRS Extends Employer Deadline to Furnish Forms 1095-C, 1095-B

December 1, 2016

Employers now have an extra month to provide either Form 1095-C or 1095-B under the Affordable Care Act’s employee reporting requirements. The deadline for furnishing 2016 Form 1095-C, or Form 1095-B, if applicable, to employees and individuals is now March 2, 2017 – extended from Jan. 31, 2017.

The dates for filing forms with the Internal Revenue Service remain the same: Feb. 28, 2017 if filing by paper, and March 31, 2017, if filing electronically.

Prior to IRS Notice 2016-70, employers could file Form 8809 to request a 30-day extension of the due date to furnish forms to individuals.
