Whether you’re a long-time recipient of federal grants or seeking such awards for the first time, it’s important for Tribal Financial Management professionals to understand the many strings attached to these funds to account for and stay in compliance.

Join REDW Principal and Tribal Practice Leader Corrine Wilson and Audit Senior Manager Lupita Martinez for a full day of hands-on training aimed at helping you navigate these complex and often confusing grant requirements. You’ll gain a comprehensive working knowledge of the accounting principles that apply to all federal awards/grants, as well as financial management regulations that are unique to tribal environments.

In particular, you’ll learn more about the Self Determination Act/PL 93-638 and how to successfully negotiate self-determination/self-governance awards and contracts to benefit your tribe.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Corrine Wilson, CPA – REDW Principal Corrine is a seasoned auditor, trainer and consultant who has dedicated her professional career to serving Native American Tribes. Nationally recognized as an expert in tribal government financial management, Corrine has served as a board member of the Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA) and was a key contributor to its 2017 Tribal Financial Reporting Guide (the Orange Book). She also serves as a lead instructor for the Tribal Financial Managers Certificate Program through Arizona State University’s American Indian Policy Institute.

Lupita Martinez, CPA – REDW Senior Manager Lupita has over 30 years of experience as a financial professional, 20 of which have been spent in public accounting and the other 10 working as a CFO with tribal governments, where she oversaw project financing budget monitoring, and construction accounting. Lupita maintains a specialty in Single Audits, with a focus of helping tribal governments improve efficiency and manage their enterprises, including providing guidance in program and project development.
