Cristin Heyns-Bousliman featured in Albuquerque Journal: Spelling Out Paid Sick Leave

April 20, 2021

Coming off the April 8 signing of the Healthy Workplace Act by New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, REDW Principal and Human Resources Consulting Practice Leader Cristin Heyns-Bousliman has been featured in Albuquerque Journal’s “The Executive’s Desk” guest column for her advisement on upcoming mandatory paid sick leave.

While the effective date for mandatory paid sick leave in the state of New Mexico has been set for July 1, 2022, employers have ample time to prepare to meet compliance, but tensions on the subject are still running high for some.

In the column, Cristin provides a brief and informative overview of the act, and key takeaways to help employers reach compliance by the due date. Topics covered include an overview of the substance of the act, changes to make for employers that already offer PTO policies, and anti-retaliation provisions in the act.
